Ibiza Cancelled?

Due to the very severe weather in the Balearic Islands, and my intended destination Ibiza, I flew to Lille in the Diamond DA40 instead and took a freshly qualified instrument pilot to France for some currency. After a straightforward yet very turbulent departure from London, we enter frontal weather as we approach Lille before making an uneventful instrument approach. Damien flies the aircraft back with an ILS into Southend’s Runway 23 before visually flying back to Stapleford.

Aircraft –

The aircraft is a DA40 TDI, which uses a Thielert “Centurion” 135 hp (101 kW) diesel engine and burns diesel or jet fuel. It has a constant-speed propeller and FADEC (single lever) engine control. G-ZANY is based at Stapleford Aerodrome, Essex, UK and was delivered as new in 2003.
